The last week of the holidays...

... and [profile] count_tygath is here for the week. We've had a fun time so far, and for once, the weather actually seems to be on our side. Well, more than usually, I guess. Well, it is not snowing, so that is a good sign.

We've been to the Scotland Street School Museum yesterday, and apart from the fact that those make me always feel wistful and dodgy because old school buildings look so pretty, with all those little desks arranged in reverence around the shrine of knowledge, the desk of the teacher - the other visitors were what made it interesting, not the thought of how wonderful it must have been to teach in these.

Coming from the Girl's Cloak room -  there were dess-up school uniforms, Crocky and I had to try them out -we met a family who was visiting the museum with their grandma. This woman actually wanted to convince us that corporal punishment was a good idea. She had been punished during her own school days and apparently got stuck with the belief that it is very character building and all in all a good idea. She told us that one day a teacher smacked her wrist with a tawse so hard that it bled - the WRIST, for heaven's sake! That is so dangerous! -  and her mother just had a look at it and went "stop bawling, you'll have deserved it!"

"The WAY the children talk to the teachers today! The pure CHEEK! I wouldn't want to become a teacher today! No wonder there is no discipline when there is no real punishment and no real discipline anymore!"

I don't know what fascinates me more - her apparent state of denial, or the fact that there really are people who are in favour of corporal punishment around...

Even in spite of the fact that there are a few people who deserve to be smacked round the head - who would WANT corporal punishment be reintroduced for non-kinky reasons?!

PS: I bought the boots I lusted after. They are gorgeous!

Sounds like you had fun!
Didn't know [livejournal.com profile] count_tygath wanted to visit you, I do envy him... Please say hello from me!

Corporal punishment can be useful, but I'd like it to stay a kinky thing. Though I wouldn't mind hitting one or two of those obnoxious brats in school... Nah, I'm all for verbal punishment, Snape-style ^^

Yay for buying the boots!

I'll tell him, although I see he's read it himself just now. :)
You're still welcome if you want to come, hun... although it's almost August and then I'll be back... Sigh. I don't want to come back...

I don't believe in c.p., somehow... there are so many people who don't belong in front of a class in the first place I wouldn't dare to give a cane... It's just too dangerous, whatever people say who are in favour of it... But then, this is bonnie Scotland, in bonnie GB, the country which officially outlawed corporal punishment at schools in 2002. Well, state schools abandoned it in '98, but public schools and boarding schools have always been slow to catch on...
Verbal punishment should be fine, you're right.

Booties rule. Especially these. Knee high. Laced. Heaven.

You don't want to come back? Pity, I'd like to have you here! though I can understand you... ah well *sighs*

They outlawed it in 2002? O_o
Glad to know that Germany was quicker. Corporal punishments in school just doesn't work. It does so during Karate lessons ^^

Anyway, I want to see these boots! Preferrably on your legs. Maybe we could go out some time when you're back and you wear those boots?< *makes huge cute puppy eyes*small>

Well, I don't really know what to do. I'd like to do something worthwhile again, and nothing I do here, in spite of being great, can be transferred as credit, sooo... it's a great break, but it's not really useful. Apart from transferrable skills such as being able to spot fake Scottish accents on telly.

2002 is shocking, right? What I find sick is the school which still uses it.

Sure! I love wearing them, although I'm not sure what to wear to show them off. I am not a skirt person at all (thanks for the monster-hip-bone, gran!), and long trousers and knee-length boots are a wee bit pointless, sooo... [/vain pointlessness] So, yeah, I'd love to!

Hi there... *waves*

Too bad I gotta leave again by tomorrow, sooo don't wanna go, believe me. I absolutely love it here... :(
