After Conwy Caernarfon is the most impressive of the Edwardian castles, and since Edward planned it as a palace for the Mrs it's no surprise. Since it used to be all white from the outside it must have been some sight when it was first built, too. The remaining ruins are also in rather good condition which leaves you with a lot to explore. Personally I was a bit vexed I'm dependant on my phone's internet connection for geocaching, because that place clearly begs to be used for caching (or playing hide and seek, but Crocky wasn't up for it).
All white? Wow. (BTW, I would have been intrested in all the Edward stuff! ;o) ) Tell me something about Geocachig abroad. We shamefully gave up on each trip so far, despite having my faithful well-working Garmin Daktoa 20 GPS device. But we never manage to look out caches before we start, and since having the WiFi so far NEVER worked properly, we also couldn't look up caches. I still haven't found a solution for that problem, since we don't want to plan our trips along the caches, but the other way round. We managed at least one or two token caches in each country we were, but that's all. We now have both Smartphones, but yet both without internet, "just" to be used as phones with some extra (in my case, MP3 player and audiobook device). Are you on GC? We've a combined account as Rodhus.
Well, I only got started. We've got a combined account now as RRASR, but there isn't much on there yet, I think only two or three caches.
My original plan was to find at least one cache in each country, but I didn't even manage that. But then, my mobiel phone is not exactly the most accurate of devices and I've been traipsing through a 10m radius of bracken several times.
Let me think, I remember something... we first started with the WW's car Navi, and we had the problem that we always seemed to be rather off. Then we found something in one of the forums or other that the way of displaying/showing the coordinates had something to do with it, becasue there were different kinds of doing it. We both don't remember what it was, unfortunately, or how it was called, but afterwards it was much easier. Still, the GPS device I then got was much easier to use, because the display is also much more easier to read. Can you ask somebody, perhaps at a local GC "Stammtisch", for help?
Among my favourite caches are Earth Caches, because they brought us already to so many special places.
