Of knitting, blocking, and tasselled things.

I finished my second major knitting project today, this shawl. This is the first time that I'd blocked anything I knitted, and I'm rather taken with the result. It went from something much smaller and slightly curly to this:

The finished product with tassels looks like this:

Everything I knit turns out about only about 2/3rds the size it's supposed to be, so I still have a long way to go. My stitches are also not as even as they could be, and my first squat puffy attempt at tassels also does nothing to compliment this very light lacy shawl. I'm doing a second one for myself right now.

Ooh, so pretty! Blocking is a really useful technique, especially when doing anything lace-y. I didn't know you knit :)

Well, I only started at the end of March this year since I fell out of love with crochet due to a particularly difficult pineapple shawl I'm still working on.

Blocking is surprisingly amazing, as any of you knitting experts could have probably told me. :D I went back and blocked two broomstick lace scarves I'd done and they came out great.

And then you started with a lacey piece? Impressive.

Blocking truly is amazing. Will you make pics of the broomstick lache scarves?

I didn't take a picture of the broomstick lace pieces and now they're already crumpled up again.

It's a very easy lace piece! After the scarf lace seemed way more interesting. I liked knitting the Gryff scarf, but it took ages and was repetetive.
