I don't know for how long this has been abandoned, as I couldn't find any information on it. I've seen this building whenever I go down Hannover, as it is directly next to the main station, and I've always wondered what it looks like from the inside. Another thing I plan to have a look at with [livejournal.com profile] niaseath when he's here.

When I was there today, the place was not as deserted as I had hoped. One lone guy was golfing along the remains of the tracks, and two people were wandering around, apparently going for a walk. Or maybe they were dealing drugs, who knows, they gave everybody an incredibly wide berth. I know that the yard is the home of illegal rave parties, and judging from the used condoms which are littered all over the place it's also the less romantic version of "lover's lane" (and apparently, more fitting terms even exist. No wonder there was a rush to rename the streets in question in the eighteenth and nineteenth century).

Not that fascinating. The building on the right was much more interesting, but I didn't want to go in with all these people around  -and before looking up how forbidden it actually is.

I've always wanted to know what those tower things look like from the inside.

You should post those first pictures in [livejournal.com profile] abandonedplaces

I'm slightly intimidated by the stuff other users keep posting there, but once I've managed to take a few decent ones the next time I'm there I'll definitely post them there. It's hard to post snapshots of an abandoned German train station next to pictures of an abandoned Russian palace or mine shaft taken by a professional photographer.

I think the shot of the staircase could sit next the pro's shots without a problem, but as you like. :)

Oh, goodness, I just realised how much my answer sounded as though I was fishing for compliments, which I had not intended! I am very flattered you think it's good, though. :)

Oh, I didn't read it that way. I feel the same way whenever I'm gearing myself up to make a first comment or contribution to a new online community. I always want it to be some of my best work - only one chance for first impressions and all that jazz.

It's a relief to know you didn't read it that way! As for impressions - I did post over there before, and my estimation of the impression I left (not terrible, but average) makes me eager to improve and probably even more anxious. I wish I could be more relaxed about the opinions people online whom I will never meet or talk to have on my snapshots. :P

Ooooh, I like those. Especially the ones of the staircase. Would they work in black and white, do you reckon?

You've got ein Auge for photography!

Thanks! :)

They probably work better in black and white than they do in colour:
