Well, you wouldn't, as you're in that business and it's probably not news to you what's going wrong in it. For me, it was a nice and simple summary of problems I had noted, too, as a layman. I do realise there are probably people out there who offer a more differentiated inside view of gender in the business, but I'm probably not aware of them. The last time I've read any commentary on it was at the time Wall-E came out - many blogs I read linked to posts or had guest posts on Pixar and Gender at the time. Apart from those, I've never really read anything on animation, to be honest, it's not really my medium.

As for the self-importance - well, they're video reviews. I have yet to see a video reviewer who doesn't succumb to the temptation of self-important prattle, it seems to be rather built in. Sometimes they can still be funny (I do enjoy some Zero Punctuation reviews), at other times, the annoyances outweigh the entertainment - I must say I was rather pleasantly surprised to find that those videos (which I had only discovered through that Hathor Legacy link) were hosted on TGWTG site, which I don't associate with particularly enlightening or funny reviews. As a rule, video reviews seem to be very overrated and to come with vaguely scary fans.
