mothwing: Silhouettes of Minerva and Severus facing each other, kissing in one panel of the gif (SSMM)

Title: Gone.
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] mothwing .
Rating: G.
Notes: an illustration of Crockywock's wonderful fanfics The Prince's Tale and The Silver Cat.
Summary: After Voldemort's defeat, Severus is released from both his debt and also from his connection to Lily, which is driven home by the fact that his patronus changed with his feelings for Minerva. The loss of his old patronus as well as the meaning of the new one cause very mixed feelings.

This is also the first time that I drew both humans and animals without any kind of reference, not even the trusted artist's dummy. I also practised doing rooms here, and I'm quite happy with how they turned out. Severus' face and expression, on the other hand, really still need some work. I'm rather happy with the cat, though, even though I consciously avoided doing fur, because my attempts at following Jab's pointers were pretty catastrophic and need some more work.

This is quite lovely. Snape's posture is indicative of distress and exhaustion and uncertainty. His hair, too, is pretty much perfect. As to his face, perhaps his nose needs to be a bit more distinct? It runs in an almost straight line from his forehead instead of descending then hooking outward. And his eye slants upward perhaps a bit more than it should. Even so, his expression conveys the emotion quite clearly, fatigue and troubled thought. And I quite like the texture of his shirt. Also, yes, the cat!Patronus is very well drawn.

Nicely done. You catch something about Snape that rings true. But then, I love scowly!Snape.

This is bittersweet and beautiful. The picture conveys quite a lot of emotion: those mixed feelings come through very clearly, as does Snape's exhaustion. I can tell he feels his burdens have yet to be lifted. The background is particularly compelling. The bleakness of that room is very Snape. Well done!

That's really evocative -- his slump and his pained expression say so much. The cat is lovely.

Those walls are splendid - their labyrinth-like quality works very well. One can see how lost and uncertain Snape feels. And the cat is brilliant!

This is beautiful, and your Snape in his uncertainty is perfect.

This is beautiful! I love the muted palette and how the cat's body mirrors Severus'.
