We went on this heritage walk, which was exhausting. It's only 7km long, but since we only found the carpark at 11am, we were hiking in the blazing sun for two hours since this beautiful walk through the heather does not offer a lot of shade anywhere. There was wind, but not much. Since we also managed to lose our track on the way back we abandoned the route we should have taken and had to cross-cut through bracken and climb several fences to get back to the way we took there. All in all not what I'd expected, but we did avoid getting a heatstroke, at least.

View of the way back we should have taken. We didn't. We went by the tree line on the other side through waist-high bracken. Decidedly not fun.

This walk must look amazing if the heather is in bloom. Only few plants were when we were there, but you could tell that you'd be walking through a sea of purple. Really pretty.

Only shade we could find on the trip. After an hour on Offa's Dyke, we felt we'd dserved it.

Offa's Dyke is actually pretty busy and was the day we were there.
