YES! I have finally found a sport which is promising: fencing!

I had nearly given up, after rather fruitless efforts with volleyball, judo, gymnastics, dancing, ballet, horse riding, occasional jogging, cycling, badminton and more, this is FUN! Alright, perhaps I shouldn't be too enthusiastic after the first lesson, but... ah well. I am exceptionally good at being hit. But on the whole, it's less difficult than I thought so far. Love it.
Well, perhaps except for the people who see it as an opportunity - since the mating season is on... Those really are annoying. Especially if you are being paired with with someone who only has eyes for Vivian (ex-ballet dancer, slender, dark-eyed, etc. etc.- you get the picture) for practicing and look like the slim version of an ancient fertility goddess yourself - hence could as well be not there at all. I nearly hit him over the head with my foam foil-thing.

But on the whole, it's fun. And a family tradition, really. My grandmother has won prizes when she was young, my mother has done it for six years as well and loved it... They were really enthusiastic about me starting. To a quite worrying extent, really. My grandmother even tried to show me some stances. With her artificial hip joint...!

Cool that you find fencing interesting for you. My grandma has also done loads of fencing and has been pretty good at it - especially when you consider that she's disabled. Her right hand has never developed any fingers. She has always been a right hander but had to learn to do everything with the left hand.
Which also became her fencing hand.

I hope it'll be fun for you, too.
Just ignore the apes looking for their female couple halves.
I never tried it but I like watching it though it is a really fast sport.

Yay for fencing grandmothers! Is she the one whom you mentioned the other day? She sounds like a very interesting personality indeed!

Fencing is excellent. A highly worthwhile occupation. We'll have a fight in summer, I insist on that. And don't be too sure that you'll lose - I haven't won a single official fight within my group so far. *lol* Well... one. But that doesn't count. It was against an oversized, lanky, totally dim-witted jerk. Remind me that I tell you of whom he reminded me of when I first saw him. *grins* You'll love it.

Nah, I won't lose. Since I am a natural talent and sports genius, and will be fighting against someone who only had far more lessons than I'll have had... hang on, we are talking about me, aren't we? Of course I'll lose.
Can we start with kitchen rolls or anything? I don't trust our old foils - let alone my damaged mask and granny's untraceable one...
