E-learning? At my university?
Sunday, July 30th, 2006 02:20 pmE-learing. And not only E-learning. E-application for courses, too, apparently. That is scary. I mean, I sort of think it's a good development, and things can only get better, but somehow... Ah, well. I guess it's better this way. And it means that the applications will all start in October or something. That's perfect, as it gives me plenty of time to think about which courses I want to take. Some things sound very interesting already, especially, curiously, in German. I usually hate courses in German.
Today, everything looks better (albeit a lot more untidy than in the dark) already. And I got to know the two newest family members: two very cute guinea pigs without names (Noname and Nobody, as my mother says. My suggestion was Enkidu and Gilgamesh, but somehow, my brother did not take to the idea immediately. Might take some time.
My brother... he is so tall! He has no right being this tall! He is taller than I am! How dare he! And he lives in the basement, next to us. It has become a favourite part of the house, it is so hot outside.
Oh, and my cat likes me again. He is still very snooty, but he purrs like a chainsaw whenever I come near and lies down and rolls onto his back so that I can reach his tummy. It is so good, having animals around again, I didn't even know I missed them that much. Even Crocky seems to be glad they are around, and she has fallen in love with Larry, the Flat Coated Retriever from across the road. He is very sweet and keeps pouncing everybody with his tail because he is so happy to see everybody.
It is strange how close everything back in Glasgow still feels. I went through my picture folders and sorted out the crappy ones today, and somehow, everything still felt as though it was just round the corner. Oh, yeah, that's just Dumbarton Road. Oh, yeah, that's Church Street. Nothing special. You need to go shopping, you have run out of hankies and - wait. It's Sunday. No shops on Sunday around here.
And the language! I am always surprised to hear people speaking German and I can't help going "Whoa, Germans!" internally. Duh. The language feels strange. It is so oddly coarse at times, and alien what ought to be familiar. Hm.
Must go, there are still a few things I have to clean (thanks, cat...grrr.) before my best friend,
angie_21_237 arrives. She is used to our chaos, so the house can be shown to her.

Date: Sunday, July 30th, 2006 06:56 pm (UTC)The wonders food and half an hour of stroking can do. ;) Cats are as attention-craving as women, I guess that's why the two of us are getting along so well.

Date: Sunday, July 30th, 2006 10:12 pm (UTC)Luna/Ginny, blah, not my cuppa tea. Probably because I have a huge anipathy for Ginny. LUNA shoulda got Harry, especially after book 5 - and I was all for Ginny/Neville. If only she weren't so Mary Sue-ish all of a sudden.
The only femslash I've found kind of appealing was McGonagall/Hermione...
