mothwing: A wanderer standing on a cliff, looking over a distant city (Book)
[personal profile] mothwing

E-learing. And not only E-learning. E-application for courses, too, apparently. That is scary. I mean, I sort of think it's a good development, and things can only get better, but somehow... Ah, well. I guess it's better this way. And it means that the applications will all start in October or something. That's perfect, as it gives me plenty of time to think about which courses I want to take. Some things sound very interesting already, especially, curiously, in German. I usually hate courses in German.

Today, everything looks better (albeit a lot more untidy than in the dark) already. And I got to know the two newest family members: two very cute guinea pigs without names (Noname and Nobody, as my mother says. My suggestion was Enkidu and Gilgamesh, but somehow, my brother did not take to the idea immediately. Might take some time.

My brother... he is so tall! He has no right being this tall! He is taller than I am! How dare he! And he lives in the basement, next to us. It has become a favourite part of the house, it is so hot outside.

Oh, and my cat likes me again. He is still very snooty, but he purrs like a chainsaw whenever I come near and lies down and rolls onto his back so that I can reach his tummy. It is so good, having animals around again, I didn't even know I missed them that much. Even Crocky seems to be glad they are around, and she has fallen in love with Larry, the Flat Coated Retriever from across the road. He is very sweet and keeps pouncing everybody with his tail because he is so happy to see everybody.

It is strange how close everything back in Glasgow still feels. I went through my picture folders and sorted out the crappy ones today, and somehow, everything still felt as though it was just round the corner. Oh, yeah, that's just Dumbarton Road. Oh, yeah, that's Church Street. Nothing special. You need to go shopping, you have run out of hankies and - wait. It's Sunday. No shops on Sunday around here.

And the language! I am always surprised to hear people speaking German and I can't help going "Whoa, Germans!" internally. Duh. The language feels strange. It is so oddly coarse at times, and alien what ought to be familiar. Hm.

Must go, there are still a few things I have to clean (thanks, cat...grrr.) before my best friend, [profile] angie_21_237 arrives. She is used to our chaos, so the house can be shown to her.

Haha, the language! We could always speak English together - I want to hear the cute accent you doúbtlessly have adopted ;) And I told you Sev would come around soon.

Hey, he kicked me out again! My computer always does that these days...

The wonders food and half an hour of stroking can do. ;) Cats are as attention-craving as women, I guess that's why the two of us are getting along so well.

He. Did. It. Again! Argh!

Accent - more or less, but it sounds a wee bit faked at times. At least not quite as melodious and flowing as the real thing.

Oh, because I'm constantly on and off and only online to see if there are E-Mails and stuff because technically, I ought to be entertaining my guest. Or petting my cat. Or listening to my brother. Or my mother. Or my grandma. Or unpacking. Or tidying. Or... and all that. *gg*

That'll change in a coupla days, though. :)

There is no canon evidence that he isn't. ;)

Ooh, funny video? Off to watch!

True...in canon, nobody ever tried stroking him. But if they do in fanfiction, it's called OOC and the perosn doing it a Mary Sue :P

Naaaaaaiin. That's absolutely and one-hundred percent realistic, only that nobody will admit it because the woman has to be younger than the man and all that.

She doesn't have to be older. Wait until I finished my Bellatrix/Neville.

It's just that...Minerva/Sev...blah. I don't like it. I can't even explain. If at all, for me it's more like a mentoring, motherly kind of thing, you know. Like the plotbunny you let me have.

Well, I can see what you mean, I get that sometimes, especially if it's two women. There is a stupendous amount of people out there who fancy Luna/Ginny, and for reasons unknown, I'm always all "NOO! Not RIGHT!!", even with the really well-written ones. Somehow, most women are hard to include in Fanfics.

Isn't that weird? I mean, I'm bi, so why do I find femslash even more boring than het?

Luna/Ginny, blah, not my cuppa tea. Probably because I have a huge anipathy for Ginny. LUNA shoulda got Harry, especially after book 5 - and I was all for Ginny/Neville. If only she weren't so Mary Sue-ish all of a sudden.

The only femslash I've found kind of appealing was McGonagall/Hermione...

Glad to hear that you seem to be a little bit more settled. It always takes a bit of time to adjust to any move, I'm sure you'll soon start building up fun stuff to do.

Hugs & best wishes.

Yep, that E stuff at uni scares me, too. It will work out, somehow, uni stuff usually does.

Glad to hear that your starting to really get here again. I'd be happy talking to you in English so I can listen to the Scottish accent you must habe gotten there. [livejournal.com profile] lordhellebore and I usually lapse into English when we talk...

Glad you're back!
