mothwing: A wanderer standing on a cliff, looking over a distant city (Book)

So, I never post NWS stuff, but when I stumbled upon this vid on an education site I spent a couple of minutes trying to find out what on earth it was supposed to tell me, and was really glad when they showed whose video it was at the end. Of course the context of the site I found it on should have made that clear, but I still did not really get it at first.

And sometimes ... slightly... bizarre... positions. Let me know if you'd have guessed what this was all about before reaching the end of the vid:
.

Or this one, featuring a gay male:

The vids were made by the French organisation Aides, they were designed for HIV/AIDS awareness raising, and there's info on the campaign here in French and here in English.
Do you feel your awareness has been raised?

I didn't really get it at first, but I must say I've had that problem with French HIV/AIDS awareness raising before (Click for man with scorpion - again, not work safe). It does stick in the mind, though, and that's bound to be good.

I wish they'd use these films over here, actually. The format is appealing, the style pretty, the music nice, and the subject is handled in a grown-up, yet slightly joking manner which might help overcome embarrassment.

I like them! I would say my only issue is with the second, the gay male stereotypes -- wanting to play with dolls and the big burly ultra "butch" guy. Also, aren't doctor-patient relationships forbidden?!

But yes, on the whole, like it.

Yep, the stereotyping bothered me, too, especially with the doll thing - there are far too many people who confuse being gender queer and being homosexual - which is probably only to be expected, because most people still don't seem to be aware of the existence of gender roles in the first place, so they wouldn't be aware of genderqueerness.

Still, I liked the videos, which are much better than the rather clumsy campaigns we have over here.

I saw the second on my favorite drag queen's site but I didn't know there was a heterosexual version available. With a microscope. And said crazy positioning. No glove, no love. Got it.

There's also one for men. (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x212b3_018-aides-love-stories_ads) I think the gay one's the best, though, although the giant squid pwns it all.
