Yes, I'm a creepy stalker and spotted some of your names among those who did sign, so a big THANKS for that. On the family front? Well. The kinds of conversation I'd like to have about things like these run something like this: 

Me: "Hey, there's this petition about adding sexual identity to article 3 in our basic law!"
Family: "Sounds great, I'll sign it."
Me: "Neat, thanks!"

or,

Family: "I have X reason not to sign, so I won't."
Me: "Ok, I see, well, thanks, anyway!"
 

Rather than:

Me:  "Hey, there's this petition about adding sexual identity to article 3 in our basic law!"
Family: "... But you have to sign up to sign it!"

"But there are only so few people signing that thing, it won't make a difference if I do it, so I won't bother!" (Logic, are you in there?)
"I never sign petitions!" (...?)
"..."
  

It's kind of depressing that not even  families of people who are affected by this can be bothered.  Ah, well. Makes the ones who do sign more special, I suppose...?

No, this is aimed at my German friends, so unless you move to Germany and become a German citizen, you aren't. And I wouldn't ask that of anyone in spite of the importance of this thing, though you're of course welcome if you feel the need to do so. :P

That's my father! He did sign after all, it was a very pleasant surprise, especially seeing as he initially said he wouldn't because he didn't see the point. No sign of my mother or brother yet, though. Hrmph.

Anyway, I emailed the link to all and sundry and hope that at least a couple of them will go and sign up. Two already did and one promised to mail it to some friends. It's not much, but at least it's something.
