Major event? The fall of the Berlin wall. I was six, and I was told that it meant that we could now see our relatives more often again. This is also about the only event which makes me feel patriotic.

The Tschernobyl catastrophe. I was 5 (soon to be 6) and I was very scared of it all. My parents didn't handle it very well which created the first rift in our relationship since they said something to me which i'll never forget them for one bad and egoistic choice they would almost have made at the time. I'll tell you what it was when I write next time, 'kay?

I remember that, but I didn't hear about it in the news. I just remember having to pack up every toy I could find in the garden to get it out of the way of the acid rain and that we lost all our blueberries. ;(

(BTW, did your mobile number change? I texted you last time I was going to HH, but never got a reply, so I'm not sure it arrived.)

Looks more like the message didn't come through then, as my number hasn’t changed in quite some time. – I’m so sorry, as I'd have loved to meet up with you. :(

With Tschernobyl, I don't even remember exactly where I picked it up back then. Tagesschau, I guess. As we always watched it together. Dad always kinda made our program in the evenings.
