Seasonal decorations

Bremen is snowy at the moment, the annual Christmas market is in full swing, and our house is becoming more Christmassy, too - all the other windows are blinking or light up at night.

To join in, I put up some decoration as well, though compared to the lavish display of our neighbours mine is half-hearted at best, but then, I never really know what to do in terms of window decorations. I don't really like things that blink or light up, and thus I went for red sisal stars. And there's our tree and wreath, too.

That's what the backyard behind our house looks like right now.

Said red sisal stars. They're on all our windows now.

One does light up, but it only needs very little battery power and it's in our kitchen, where it doesn't bother me at night.

Christmas tree!

Slytherin colours and purple as every year. Well. From now on.

Self-portrait.

Advent wreath! We have one every year. This year I was actually only going to do a small version with the central candle there, but then we decided against it after all and went for a wreath as usual.

It's an angel in a snowglobe. And some cinnamon and an orange on our table. In front of our Christmas tree. Not cheesy.

Beautiful pictures of your decorations!!

For me an advent wreath and the christmas tree are an "either or" :-) - I bind my own wreath every year from green out of the garden, so we will not put up a tree until the 24th.... then the tree lasts well until after Jan. 6th.

I dislike blinking and colourful lights, too - and sadly our garden neighbours have plenty of those - I really have to close the blinds fast when night falls... ;-(

Thanks! Usually it's an either/or for us, too, but this year we won't be home at Christmas because we're spending it with our families in turn, so it was a nice surprise to come home and find a tree. It won't survive until January, but it makes our flat Christmassy now.

My sympathies! I'm lucky, nothing is blinking in front of our windows, but some neighbours down the road went nuts with various animal figurines that light up in bright colours - they're incredibly tacky and annoying.

Mmmm love that first ornament picture! The crisp, cool foreground against the fuzzy, warm background--lovely! Self portrait, too! :D

Wonderful backyard! Looks like a glorious place to live, and what a winter-wonderland scene! Love those red sisal stars, espcially the ones that light up just enough to show light from within.

Fantastic Christmas tree! I like that you didn't trim it down to a strict cone; I see that a lot and it does have a nice look to it, but I like it left all natural, too. :D *Grins.* Slytherin colours are great for trees, and of course purple is a great colour. I wouldn't be surprised if, in the absense of rainbow, I went with that as well.

(It's my first Christmas living primarily somewhere else, though I'll be home for the holidays, so I don't have much of a collection for myself yet.)

I love your advent wreath! Oh, goodness, I love all of these! Such a big fan of the winter holidays. :D Certainly not cheesy. (I appreciate it, anyway; it's a great picture full of the warm and calm winter cheer, which is my favourite.)

Glad you like the pictures! :) I don't like strict trees at all, so it has to stay as wild as it is.

Our collection of ornaments is steadily increasing every year. Last year we had rainbow ornaments on our Chrimstas tree. I usually like Advent wreaths more than Christmas trees, even, but that's because I don't have any bad memories about advent wreathes and fights about them at all, which I can't say about Christmas trees. I'm in two minds about these holidays. A lot of pressure and stress, but it also has the best sweets and decorations.
