Day 15 - Viking village in Höllviken

Runestones! Reading Futhark is even more difficult in a foreign language, and that the runes are always slightly different does not help, either.

Stables. The pit you can just see in the background in the middle has an elk skin being prepared for further leatherwork. I'm unfamiliar with the terminology, but they're at the stage at which you soak the skin in water and wait until the hair falls off. #

View of the village from the tower.

Camp site of the reenactors.

Silver smithy!

Bedroom and dining room all in one.

Ovens were rather common in the households.

Apparently Vikings also used wax tablets to take notes.

I always admire people who have the patience to do any of the fabric and thread related reenacting. I would have been a horrible Viking.

Spot the fertility god.

Smuggest church I have ever seen. It was locked, too, so that's probably why.

Höllviken windmill.

I loved that contrast - the village Höllviken was too far away to include in any pictures, but the boat and the bridge - as though it time-travelled. :D
