So, my second attempt at something larger than an oven cloth (when I saw them in our kitchen I realised that those where my first crocheting project back in '03 when I made two Slytherin-coloured ones for Crocky).

Since they don't fit on the bean bag doggie, here's my arm in the gauntlet so far. It does not have a hole for the thumb, even though it kind of looks like it does on this picture:

And in this is the quality yarn that I'm using: bulk from a discounter. But I didn't know if this was a project I'd abandon, so I wanted to stay safe and go cheap.

In the picture above you can also sort of see that I fudged the order of the individual scales to increase the girth of the project at the top: instead of six scales like at the beginning it's first seven scales wide up there, and now it's nine scales wide, which is unfortunately a bit too wide. It doesn't look as irregular as I feared, but there must be a better way to steadily increase the number of scales instead of fudging it, like I did. It's also difficult because I'm not sure if I can repeat what I did for glove #2. But I suppose I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it...

AHHH THAT'S THE WORD/LOOK I was looking/going for! Dragonscale bracer. Thank you. I'm thinking about making another pair with more metallic-looking yarn.

Yes, that will be such a nice ensemble.
I am so relieved that somebody else does like I do and improvises without taking notes on the first one (mittens, socks, whatever), and then there is the problem of repeating it just the same way on the second... ;-) How often did I tell myself to write it down, but then, I was never sure if I would not go back and re-do it in a different way, so no need to write it down already.... *gg*

With these it was actually easy to go back since it was rather visible where I fudged the increase, but I'm currently doing scaly fingerless gloves, and it's really hard to see where what's happening. Might have to invest in a stitch marker.

Wow! It's so pretty and different! The colours really accentuate the texture, I love it.

The pattern really works well with several colours. Did a single-colour one and it's not half as pretty. <3
