He died "with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family".

Of all the deaths, this is the one of the best ones I can imagine and in all my sadness I am happy that he got to go this way.

So true, but it's a sad day for the rest of us.

And not just he. Vimes, Angua, Carrot, Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, the list is endless. And we'll never hear from them again. Never.
Oook?
Yes,never.

As far as I'm concerned they're there forever. But it is sad that we won't get to see how their stories continue.

A good death, I hope I get as good. But far too early.

He's my Dad's and father-in-law's age, that's the scary part.

He's older than my grandfather was when he died. :( But that was colon cancer, so now we all know we're at risk we can get precautionary checks.

Very true; and I'm glad he didn't have to say 'this is too painful, I'm going to Switzerland' in the end.

Still. *sniffles*

I was very sad to hear the news; my book group and I talked about it after the meeting when we met up for food and drinks.

I'm also sad I didn't read through more of his books while he was alive. I've read one that my housemate told me to read and so very much loved it, but haven't yet started down the journey of his series. Now I'll have to do it with him as a happy memory--which is in itself a bit sad.

But if there's a way to go, I think that's it.
