Tried my hand at an actual pattern for grown up knitters: Kieran Foley's Arran Waves.

... and while being blocked on our living room floor rug:

And man, this was tricky. It took me over a month, I started over twice, but ended up with a result that I'm quite happy with. What i'm really not happy with anymore after this time is the yarn. In the beginning I liked the blue texture, but on the whole, the pattern is far too busy to do it justice. It also looks as though it really wanted to become a sock. Well, it can't be changed, and I'm not about to do this again any time soon. Sadly, it's also a bit too short for my taste .

Thanks! :) The designer has done many cool patterns with drop stitches, they work really well, I think. The yarn I had left over from another project and thought it was perfect at first, too, now I can't see it any more. I think that'll probably change again at some point, though.

Despite all the imperfections you perceive as the creator (we always do), I think it looks beautiful. Wish I could do something like this :) I really have to learn how to knit.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that. :) Knitting is really easy and fun, go for it! :)

It's beautiful, anyway, and looks really cool. That pattern looks so complicated! I like the pattern of the colour-changing thread with this one; perhaps I just like 'busy' things. (; Anyway, well done! What project are you working on now?

I think I just spent too much time looking at it to like it anymore. :)

I've branched out because I've got more scarves than is reasonable. I might have to start giving everybody scarves for Christmas. I'm working on this cardigan (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gyre-cardigan), which I'm doing to practice for this cardigan (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lestrange-cloak). Although there's another step in between, namely this cardigan (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lace-cardigan-21). They take longer than scarves and I hope I won't be stuck with too many of those lying around.

Oh, wow, the "Lestrange"-cardigan is incredibly awesome, and what a name :-) and it fits :-))

Isn't it?? It's in a collection called "The Unofficial Harry Potter Knits" (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/the-unofficial-harry-potter-knits-special-issue-2013/patterns) with a lot of really cool patterns. I can't do cables, though, so I'm not about to attempt the sweaters.

Those are lovely! And that collection you posted to Minnie is quite cool, too.

(I'm also sure no one will mind the scarves. ;D )
